Jerma Beach Hotel

The Jerma Beach Hotel is a great central hotel located along the front of the beach in the Gambian resort of Kololi, which is in the Senegambia region. The beach is everything you would expect from a Gambian resort, picture perfect white sands, turquoise seas and the hotel itself is located in lush, green well maintained gardens. It's the perfect spot for a holiday of relaxing in the sunshine but there's also plenty to see and do should you choose to venture a little further afield.

The hotel's facilities include a snack bar for light poolside snacks and two restaurants for a fuller dining experience. The restaurants also incorporates two bars for those of you who enjoy your evening cocktails and there is also a bar near the hotel lobby. There are two swimming pools; the hotel's main pool and also a children's pool, both areas have sun beds and parasols where you can relax in between taking a dip.

You can choose between twin rooms or villas for your accommodation and all rooms include a private bathroom, remote control air-conditioning for your comfort, terrace or balcony, TV, mini fridge, direct dial telephone and a safe.

There is plenty to do in the Kololi area with lots of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops near to the Jerma Beach Hotel. The area known as The Strip is where it's all happening and if you enjoy bustling nightlife that goes on late into the night then The Strip is the place for you.

If you want to eat out there is a good range of restaurants that cater for tourists, serving up everything from pizza to curry. And if it's seafood you love then look no further than the restaurants nearest to the beach. Here you will find the freshest of seafood that could well have come from the catch of the day!

There are lots of shops geared towards tourists if you are planning a spot of retail therapy and there are some great opportunities to buy local crafts and support local trade. You will find jewellery, beading, batiks, handmade paper, clothing and much more that has been locally made. There is also a well-known craft market in Kololi that is well worth a visit.

If shopping isn't your thing then you could try a visit to Kololi's small but fascinating nature reserve. Here you can find lots of natural wildlife including vervet and red colobus monkeys as well as lots of other natural flora and fauna. There is also a small art gallery in the Kololi area that showcases the art and photography of artists from in and around Gambia and Western Africa.

Flights from the UK go to Banjul International Airport. Once there it is relatively easy to get round the Kololi area on foot although it is better to have a reliable local guide to help you get around, especially at night. There are reliable and safe tourist taxi's that can be hired from the hotel's lobby for a fixed price. Local taxis operate just as buses do and pick up other passengers and use fixed routes, these need to be 'flagged' down.
