The building itself is a hut style thatched construction which is charming and does not impose on the surrounding scenic landscape. Perhaps the highlight of the whole establishment and one of the main attractions, is the amazing tropical garden in which the restaurant is set. It acts almost as a mini botanical garden, comprising of a variety of different plants, such as Mango trees, Rhun Palm, Acacia, Coconut trees, Baobab and much more. Leybato's garden is loved by botanists, as well as those less learned in the world of horticulture. After their meal, visitors often relax in the garden's novel hammocks, which are handmade and strung on wooden stakes in the grass.

The accommodation at Leybato is truly unique. The rooms are arranged as detached bungalows, scattered around the grounds and are situated right on the white sand of the beach. A real feel good atmosphere surrounds the whole area as guests are able to wake up and see the azure waves lapping the sand and they have lovely sunset views from their window. Although perhaps not the most luxurious accommodation in the area, the Leybato bungalows create a real sense of wellbeing and are guaranteed to reinstate a zest for life! Each separate bungalow is unique and individually designed, giving them all a distinct character which adds to the enjoyment of the Leybato experience. Trees and tropical plants shade each bungalow, ensuring that each party of residents can retain their privacy.

The distinctive Leybato restaurant building is potentially the centrepiece of the establishment, with its attractive curved shape drawing diners in from the beach area. It offers seating both indoors and outdoors, so whether visitors want to cool off in the shade or lounge in the sun to eat - their requirements can be easily met. The indoor seating is arranged in open huts so that diners can look out over the sea and beach and absorb the incredible view. Nothing much can beat sitting outside on the terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean whilst tucking into a sumptuous meal, this really cannot be matched by many restaurants in the world.

Being both a bar and a restaurant, the Leybato can be visited simply for some cocktails as the sun goes down, a tea or coffee in the morning, a pick-me-up in the middle of the day or even for a stiff nightcap before bed. Alternatively, you can visit for a full three course meal. The restaurant serves a wide variety of dishes, including everything from seafood dishes, meat dishes and vegetarian choices. Gambian specialties feature heavily in the menu and are incredibly popular.
